Does it matter what branch of service you are in to get respect from junior personnel?

this is in regard to I am in the Navy I am an E5 and I work at a Marine installation and I also am the only Sailor in my office. The issue is when I ask a junior Marine to do something they go to the Marines and play mommy daddy role and the other NCOs and above back them up. I Have been having this issue for a while and I can't get a good solid back to rely on so I can get my point across that I am an E5 and you obey the orders of those appointed over you no matter what branch of service.. can someone help me or tell me where to look?
