Can an infant/baby sit in the front seat of a car with a car seat?

You can get a truck where the airbag can be turned off. We have a Ford F-150 and I put my nieces and nephews in the front seat all the time. It's easier than trying to pull them from the back. I don't think it is illegal cause I have driven past like hundreds of cops and none of them have said anything.
